I Bet Acupuncture Can Help With That
by Sabrina Lundquist, RAc, BSc

This past July, I took a continuing education course on how acupuncture can affect nerve function. The big takeaway? Happy nerves make for a happy body is so many ways.

Holistic medicine always looks for how the body is connected and the nervous system sends the fastest signals. It can be regulated not only by touching the surface of the skin, but also by using gentle electrical stimulation in deep areas we can't reach with our fingers.

I offer FREE 20 minute consultations by video chat, phone or in-person, if you are wondering if acupuncture can help with "that."

Returning to the Rhythm of Autumn

As leaves change colour and daylight hours dwindle, the transition from summer into autumn can be a beautiful yet challenging time. There can be a lot happening in life between back-to-school and work, not to mention holidays on the horizon. Make the shift into autumn with our top 5 mindful self-care tips:

PRIORITIZE SLEEP
With shorter days, it is essential to maintain a consistent sleep schedule. Aim for 7-8 hours of quality sleep nightly to support your immune system and mental well-being.

EAT WITH THE SEASON
Transition your diet to incorporate more local fall-harvest fruits and vegetables, rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, to strengthen your immune system. While autumn treats are tempting, practice mindful eating and maintain a balanced diet to stabalize mood and energy levels.

GET DAYLIGHT WHENEVER YOU CAN
Dwindling daylight can also mean going to and from work or school in the dark. Take advantage of natural light available during breaks to help regulate your circadian rhythm and get Vitamin D. Consider supplements if you really can't get time in natural light.

DRESS WARM & STAY ACTIVE OUTDOORS
As temperatures dip, dress in cozy layers and don't let cooler weather deter you from exercise. Continue to engage in outdoor activities like walking or hiking to boost your mood, reduce stress and stay physically fit.

STAY CONNECTED
Maintain social connections, even when the weather encourages staying indoors. Organizing enjoyable autumn activities like apple picking, pumpkin carving or visiting a corn maze can alleviate feelings of isolation and stress while creating cherished memories with friends and family.

By following these tips, you can shift into autumn with ease, ensuring a healthier and happier season ahead.

Wishing you a happy, healthy autumn!
